Who pays taxes

Very interesting chart from the Jan. 21 New York Times:

tax-bite.jpg

This statistic looks typical for a Liberal rag like the New York Times. It makes it look like the lower 50% of income groups pay just as much proportionaly as the upper 50% group. This is completely false. They failed to point out that the lower income groups tend to get back most,if not all of their taxes payed during the year. However, the upper 50% group ends up paying 96% of all taxes payed.

Liberal rag?! A paper that went after Clinton for lying about sex, but supported a war on Iraq based on doctored intelligence isn't a liberal rag except in the mind of wacko right-wingers.

Given the rate at which welfare, earned income tax credits, and other benefits are being slashed, I highly doubt that poor people are seeing much money from the government. Post some evidence and a URL or stay off my weblog.
