Peter Vallone, Jr. on Iraq

What an idiot. There is no evidence that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11, but here is Peter Vallone, Jr. on why he won't support and anti-war resolution in the NYC Council, from Newsday:

Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Astoria) said the council may have been reluctant to take action on the original resolution because of the attack on the World Trade Center.

"No one felt a greater loss than New York City," he said. "No one needs retribution more than New York City.

"I will not support any anti-war resolution, no matter what the wording, and neither will the large majority of my constituents," Vallone said.

This is pretty dumb, kind of like the guy who protested France by refusing to eat french fries. Symbolical of nothing but idiotic posturing.

While I certainly diusagree with the guy - I don't think he's an idiot - politically speaking, anyway. Where's his district? Sheeesh - I work in the East Village and spend two hours a day folding "UNITED WE STAND" plastic bags for delivery orders 18 months after 9/11 - I doubt the guy will lose anything from his stance....

But of course, it would be nice for LEADERS to be able to distinguish our "enemies" from each other, and then maybe form a reasonable postion on WHETHER we should be doing what we're doing as a nation.

To me, "idiot" is the kindest interpretation of such behavior. Evil and manipulative is what I could have said. I think all of the politicians that are just going along with whatever lies Washington wants to use are collaborating with evil.

It's posturing is what it is. Spineless posturing. Man, McCarthy would have a field day.
